For leaders and admins
Leading a den
Your den’s overview, announcements, tasks, surveys, and attendance.
If you're a den leader or assistant den leader, ScoutKeep gives you your own workspace for your den. This guide walks through it: your den's overview, announcements, tasks, surveys, attendance, and analytics.
Get to your den workspace
Your den workspace appears once a pack leader assigns you as Den Leader or Assistant Den Leader of a den. Leaders who manage dens and den positions do this on the Dens page. See Managing families and Scouts.
At the top of the portal, choose My Den to switch to it. Choose My Family to go back to your own family's pages. If you lead more than one den, the workspace covers all of them together.
Your den's overview
The Overview page is your home base. It shows:
- How many Scouts and families are in your den.
- Next events, with how many people from your den are on the roster for each. Select an event to take attendance, or View all upcoming events.
- Announcements, Tasks, and Surveys for your den, each with a button to create a new one and View all to see the full list.
- Your den's roster. Next to each Scout, select Emergency contacts to see their family's emergency contacts when they have one on file. Search by name or family when the roster is long.
Send announcements to your den
Choose Announcements in the menu, or New in the Announcements panel on the overview. You can send announcements to the families in your own den, but not to the whole pack. The list here shows the den announcements you've written, and you can edit them. Otherwise, writing one works the same way as a pack-wide announcement. See Sending announcements.
Hand out den tasks
Choose Tasks in the menu, or New in the Tasks panel on the overview. You can create tasks for your den, assign a job to one adult, or open places for volunteers, such as snack duty or helping at a den outing. You can also manage every task that belongs to your den. See Managing tasks for every option.
Ask your den families questions
Choose Surveys in the menu, or New in the Surveys panel on the overview. Your surveys can go to your whole den or to chosen adults in it. You can edit the surveys you created and see which adults in your den have responded. See Surveys and event feedback.
If the pack uses event feedback surveys, you also run the feedback survey for events that are limited to your den.
Take attendance
- Choose Attendance in the menu, or Take attendance on the overview.
- Choose the event.
- Find each family on the Family roster. It lists every family with a Scout in your den, whether or not they RSVPed, plus your den's Den Chief if you have one. Search by family, Scout, or parent name if needed. If you lead more than one den, choose By den to see each den's Scouts together.
- Check Present for each person who came. If the event offers an overnight stay, you can also check Stayed overnight.
- Select Save attendance.
You record attendance for your own den only. You can't change families' RSVPs, add a family to the event, or change the event's settings, such as whether guests are allowed. Those stay with the leaders who run the event. See Running events.
See how your families are keeping up
Choose Analytics in the menu to see how the adults in your den are doing with surveys, announcements, event RSVPs, attendance, and tasks. Sort by Fewest surveys answered or Longest since sign-in to see who might need a nudge. See Engagement analytics.
Tip: If your pack connects Slack, families are added to your den's Slack channel when their Scout joins your den, and the channel can get a reminder before den-only events, at the time your pack chooses. See Connecting Slack.
Announcements, tasks, and surveys appear in your den workspace only if your pack uses them.
