The member directory

Find other families and choose what contact details you share.

This guide is for parents, guardians, and leaders. It covers the member directory, where you can look up the other families in your pack, and how to choose which of your own contact details other members see.

The directory appears in the menu as Directory only if your pack uses it. When your pack turns it off, the page and its menu link are hidden.

What the directory shows

Open Directory from the menu. You'll see every active family in your pack, in a table with three columns:

  • Family: the family name. Your own family is marked Your family.
  • Adults: each parent or guardian, with any leader roles they hold, such as Cubmaster or a den leader position.
  • Cub Scouts: each Scout, with their den.

Under an adult's name you may also see their email address, phone number, or Slack account, but only the ones they chose to share. Select an email address to write to them, a phone number to call, or a Slack link to open a direct message with them in the Slack app.

Emergency contacts and health information never appear in the directory.

Tip: Leaders who manage families, dens, or adult access see everyone's email and phone number here, the same as they do in the leader pages.

Find a family

The count above the table shows how many families match.

  • To search, type in Search the directory. You can search by family name, an adult's name, or a Scout's name.
  • To narrow the list to one den, choose it under Den. The list then shows families with a Scout in that den and families whose adults lead it. Choose All dens to see everyone again.

If nothing matches, you'll see No matching families. Try a different name, or switch back to All dens.

Choose what contact details you share

Everyone in your pack can see your name in the directory. Your email address and phone number stay hidden until you choose to show them.

  1. Open My Family from the menu.
  2. Find Your directory listing.
  3. Check Show my email address, Show my phone number, or both.
  4. Select Save directory choices.

To hide them again, uncheck the boxes and save. Your choices apply only to you, so each parent in your family chooses for themselves.

If you don't have a phone number on file, the phone option can't be checked. Select Add a phone number first to add one on your account page, then come back. See Your account and sign-in.

Leaders who manage families, dens, or adult access can always see your contact details, whatever you choose here.

If your pack has connected Slack, My Family also has a Linked accounts section. Linking your Slack account lets other members message you there from the directory. Everyone in your pack can see the Slack account you link.

  1. Open My Family and find Linked accounts.
  2. Select Link Slack.
  3. Slack asks you to sign in. Choose your pack's Slack workspace and approve.
  4. You return to My Family, where Linked accounts shows Linked as with your Slack name.

Linking only confirms which Slack account is yours. It doesn't let ScoutKeep post or read messages as you.

To stop showing your Slack account in the directory, select Unlink Slack. This only removes it from the directory; ScoutKeep still recognizes your Slack account for sign-in and Slack messages.

If linking doesn't work, the message on the page tells you why. The most common reasons are choosing a different Slack workspace than your pack's, or a Slack account that's already linked to someone else in your pack. Ask a leader for help with the second one.

Keep your pack on the same page.

Start with your pack’s details and choose the tools that make sense for you.
