For leaders and admins
The leader dashboard
Deadlines, payments, and RSVPs that need a leader.
The leader dashboard is your starting point for running the pack. This guide is for leaders and volunteers who help manage the pack, and it explains what each part of the dashboard tells you and where it leads.
Open the dashboard
If you have a leadership role, the top of the portal shows a switch between My Family and Manage Pack. Choose Manage Pack, then Dashboard in the menu. The page is titled with your pack's name followed by "overview" and shows only the areas your role lets you manage.
Some volunteers only help with one thing, such as tasks, announcements, or an event they're in charge of. They don't see the dashboard. Instead, Manage Pack takes them straight to the pages they can use.
Read the numbers across the top
A row of tiles gives you a quick count. Each tile title is a link to the page with the details. You see a tile only if your role covers that area.
- Active families shows how many families are active, with the number of inactive families underneath. It opens Families. You see it if you manage families and Scouts.
- Haven't responded counts active families who haven't answered the RSVP for the next upcoming event. It opens that event. If the event is limited to certain dens, it counts only families who could take part, such as those with a Scout in an invited den. If the event has an age limit, the tile says "age limits apply", because some families counted may not qualify. You see it if you manage events and attendance.
- Survey progress shows how many have answered the survey that was changed most recently, such as "12/30", with the survey's name underneath. That can be a draft, a closed survey, or an event's feedback survey. It opens that survey's responses. You see it if you manage surveys and the pack uses surveys.
- Outstanding shows the total amount families still owe across all charges. It opens Finance. You see it if you manage finances and the pack uses Finance.
If families have reported PayPal payments that are waiting for you to confirm, a notice also appears under the tiles with a link to Review reported payments. See Finance and PayPal for how to handle them.
Check upcoming events
The Upcoming events panel lists the next four events. Next to each one you see how many people are on RSVPs, split into children and adults, and how many families are coming.
- Select an event's name to open it on the Events page, where you can see who's coming and manage the event.
- Select Manage events to see every event, or View all upcoming events when there are more than four.
If nothing is on the calendar, the panel says no upcoming events are scheduled. Events come from your pack's connected calendar, so if one is missing, check the calendar in Unit settings and features. For everything you can do with an event, see Running events.
Watch upcoming deadlines
The Upcoming deadlines panel brings together survey closing dates and payment due dates, soonest first, and shows up to four.
- A survey deadline shows when it closes, such as "Survey closes Oct 20 · in 5 days", and how many have responded. Select it to see the responses.
- A payment deadline shows when it's due and how many families have paid, such as "4 of 9 paid". Select it to see those charges on the Charges page, with who has and hasn't paid.
A deadline is highlighted once everyone has responded or paid.
If any payment due dates have already passed with charges still unpaid, a warning appears at the bottom of the panel with a Review past-due charges link to the Charges page.
You see survey deadlines only if you manage surveys, and payment deadlines only if you manage finances. If neither applies to you, this panel doesn't appear.
Tip: The dashboard is a summary. To nudge families who haven't answered, use Sending announcements or the reminders described in Running events.
Find the rest of the leader tools
The menu on the left lists every management page your role allows, such as Announcements, Tasks, Families, Events, Surveys, and Finance. Every leader also sees Analytics and Settings. The pages are grouped into sections such as Activities, Communication, and People. Select a section's name to open or fold it. The section for the page you're on opens by itself. To learn which roles see which pages, read Adults, roles, and permissions.
