Packing lists and event plans
Check off an event’s packing list and read its itinerary and meal plan.
Some events come with extra help from your leaders: a packing list you can check off, an itinerary, a meal plan, and a Slack channel for the families going. This guide is for parents and guardians getting ready for an event like a campout.
All of these live on the event's own page. To get there, open Calendar from the portal menu and select the event's name, or select it from your family home. The packing list is on every event's page. The other sections appear only when the event's leaders have added them.
Use the packing list
Every event has a Packing list for your family. When leaders recommend items, your list starts from what your pack recommends. Before they do, it starts empty and you can add your own items. Your checkmarks are just for your family, and they're saved as you go.
- Check the box next to an item once it's packed. The progress line, such as 5 of 18 packed, keeps count.
- Choose Skip for anything your family doesn't need. Skipped items move to a Skipped group at the bottom and stop counting toward your total.
- Changed your mind? Choose Add back next to a skipped item.
Items are grouped the way your leaders set them up, such as Sleeping or Clothing.
Add your own items
- Type the item in Add your own item, like a fishing pole or a favorite stuffed animal.
- Choose Add.
Your items appear under Your items and work like the rest of the list. To remove one, use the remove button next to it. Only items you added yourself can be removed; recommended items can be skipped instead.
Tip: Leaders can add or update the recommended list after you've started. New items show up on your list right away. If they take an item off, your checkmark for it goes too.
Read the itinerary
When leaders publish an Itinerary, it appears on the event's page, grouped by day. Each entry shows the time, the activity, where it happens, and any notes. Entries without a set time are listed first for that day.
Leaders can keep working on a plan privately and publish it when it's ready, so you'll only see it once it's final. If they later take it back to make changes, it disappears from the page until they publish it again.
Read the meal plan
A published Meal plan is also grouped by day, with each Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Snack listed with its menu. When someone is assigned to cook, you'll see a line like Cooking: Wolf den parents, plus any notes.
If the event includes food, the RSVP form asks you to review each attendee's dietary restrictions so the cooks know what to plan for. See Calendar and RSVPs.
Join the event's Slack channel
If your pack uses Slack, an event can have its own Event channel where the families going can talk and get updates. Published itineraries and meal plans are posted there too. Choose Open in Slack on the event's page to go to it.
When ScoutKeep created the channel for the event, it adds the parents of families who are going, including families who RSVP later. A private channel shows on the event's page only once your family is going. If your leaders picked an existing public channel instead, nobody is added automatically, so open it and join it in Slack. ScoutKeep can add you only once it knows your Slack account. See Connecting Slack.
Ask a question
Many events list a Point of contact, the adult in charge. Choose Email or Call to reach them with questions about packing, the schedule, or meals.
