Answering surveys
Respond to surveys from your leaders, including feedback after events.
This guide is for parents and guardians. It explains how to find and answer surveys from your pack's leaders, including the short feedback survey you may get after an event.
Surveys appear only if your pack uses them.
Find surveys waiting for you
Open Surveys in the sidebar, under Activities. The list shows every open survey you can answer, with its status and due date:
- Needs response means you haven't answered yet. Select Start survey.
- Completed means your answers are saved. Select Review response to see or change them.
Surveys you still need to answer also show up on your family home page with an Answer button. See Your family home. If nothing is open, you'll see No surveys right now.
Answer a survey
- Select Start survey next to the survey.
- Read the introduction at the top, if there is one.
- Answer each question. Questions marked Optional can be skipped; the rest are required.
- Select Submit response.
You'll see Survey response saved when it's done.
Questions come in a few forms. You might type a short or longer answer, pick one choice, check every choice that applies, or answer a grid that asks the same thing about several items. Check-all-that-apply questions also have an Other box where you can write your own answer.
You won't be asked for your name, email, phone number, or your Scouts' names. ScoutKeep fills those in from your family's details.
If Submit response stays greyed out, look for Still to answer: below it. It lists the required questions you haven't answered yet. Select a question's name to jump to it.
One response for your family, or one per Scout
Most surveys collect one response for your whole family. If another parent in your family has already answered, you'll see their answers when you open the survey, and you can update them.
Some surveys ask about each Scout separately. In that case, choose your Scout from the Scout menu at the top, answer for that Scout, and submit. Then pick your next Scout and do the same. Each Scout's answers are saved on their own.
Change your answers
You can change your answers while a survey is still open.
- Open Surveys and select Review response.
- Change any answers.
- Select Update response.
Your new answers replace the old ones; nothing is duplicated. A survey stays open through the end of its due date in your pack's time zone. After that, ScoutKeep no longer accepts new or changed answers, and the survey leaves your list and your family home page, just as it does when a leader closes it.
Surveys that come with an announcement
Sometimes a leader attaches a survey to an announcement. You'll see A survey goes with this announcement below the message, with a Take survey button. Your answers are saved the same way as any other survey. See Announcements and notifications.
Feedback after events
If your pack turns on feedback after events, ScoutKeep asks families who took part how it went. The survey goes to every adult in each family that was checked in at the event. If no one took attendance, it goes to families who RSVPed going.
Here's how it works:
- It arrives about two hours after the event ends, titled something like "How was Fall campout on October 12?"
- It stays open for seven days.
- It usually asks how the event went overall, what went well, and what could be better next time. Only the overall question is required.
- One response covers your whole family.
You'll find it in Surveys, in your Notifications list as Event feedback, and by email or Slack direct message, depending on your Event reminders settings. If you turned off Remind me about events, you won't be sent one. Leaders can also turn the survey off for a single event, so you won't get one after every event. To change how these reach you, see Your account and sign-in.
